Default Percy & Peppa have moved homes!

So I made the decision to upgrade my lil guys home, but I'm not too sure! So Thought I'd take the chance to give you guys an update on how they're looking and see what you think about their cage?

Percy's Original cage:

But then we agreed to take on another baby once we was old enough (Peppa!), so we obviously needed to upgrade...:

And now I've just turned into a crazy bird man and spoil my birdies probably more than is healthy lol:

I chose this cage because it was so huge, but the bar spacing was small enough to be safe for them. I'm just concerned that they are not getting much light due to the closed top... they're sulking at the moment because they've just gone into their new home, but here are a little crazy-bird man obligatory pictures of my 'children':

Also, if anyone has any suggestions with inside the cage with the layout etc... that would be appreciated too

That's quite the mansion they have moved into! I'd probably add another swing and bigger ladder for them.

Are you planning on breeding them? If not then it's best you take that nest box out of the cage so they won't get any ideas.

2 things jump out at me.

Are you planning on breeding Percy and Peppa? If not, then the nest box needs to go.
I would change out the dowel perches for natural grapevine, rope, edible perches.

I'm hoping they will breed yeah, but they are both very finicky birdies... so chances are that now they have the nest box, they won't use it! lol. I'm still trying to get them both to eat fresh veggies, but still nothing, bless them

I do actually have some rope perches that I used in their last cage, I'll put it in tomorrow during their flytime. (Its actually one of those knots you can buy for dogs? I unwravvled it and they love it!)

I've not looked into edible perches before, or am I being dumb and that just means natural branches? lol.

What do you think about the lack of light they're getting from the solid roof?

Thanks again

Since you are still trying to get them onto an healthier diet, I think it's best you remove the nest box for now. Your budgies need to be in tip top shape and already eating a varied and balanced diet before the breeding starts. This is important not only for egg production but also for getting healthy chicks and for not compromising the parents overall health.

Great upgrades for sure! They are no doubt loving it!

You are very wise to get your little ones on a good diet before encouraging them to breed The difference in the health and outcome when you compare a poor diet with a varied and healthy one can not be underestimated!
