Aww, they're so sweet, I love that second photo!

Personally, I don't use sand perches as those can be quite abrasive to their feet.
I much prefer having at least one mineral perch on each cage for my flock.

Your pictures are adorable! I especially love the second one.

Are you talking about sand-paper perch covers? Those are especially bad for your budgie's feet and should never be used.

If you are talking about the all natural sand perch like these:

I have one in each of my birds cages (in addition to all their other perches) and the all natural sand perch or a pumice perch is fine.
