Default Henry's first molt

Henry is about 15 weeks now and has been with us 8 weeks. As you can see from the picture, he is undergoing his first molt.

He looks really funny with his spiky little head but I have read that moulting is supposed to make birds withdrawn and grumpy. Someone obviously forgot the give Henry the memo because he is as active and cheeky as ever!

Little Henry is indeed a sweetie, some birds have these reactions others don't seem to be effected at all. Remember it takes a lot out of them growing in new feathers feed him a varied and quality diet, including probiotics and vitamins.

I'm glad your Henry is having and good moult and is keeping his normal, cheery self!
I don't see moults as the end of the world or as a negative thing. This is a natural process that all birds go through and as long as they have a good diet and our loving care, they will be just fine.
In all my years of budgie ownership I never had a budgie or other species pet bird to have a particularly rough time during a moult (when it comes to drastic changes in personality or health), even when they go through heavy moults.

Little Henry is just as handsome as can be even with the few little pin-feathers he has right now.

I think little Henry looks very 'current' with his spiked 'do'. My little guy has been into the "gel" as well and is sporting a few spikes himself! I think he'll be 15 wks. on Weds. Isn't this a darling age??

Thanks all, yes he does look very modern. He is very naughty though - like a spoilt child!

Awww, he looks adorable. He looks very handsome despite the molting. Three of mine are going through their first molt too, it is fun to watch how much they change!
