Default All that glitters is not gold...

Sometimes it's just silver plate

That's a sweet picture, Nedra!

Out of curiosity, have you found any information about whether Silver is a safe metal to use with your budgies?

I've done quite a bit of research and found the ones below listed as toxic but haven't found anything about silver anywhere...

Toxic Metals:
Lead
Zinc
Copper
Chromium
Mercury
Cadmium
Galvanized Steel

Thanks for that info Deb. I'm going on the web now to see if I can find a definitive answer. In the meantime -- I'm putting it away!!! Just a 'Kodak Moment".

I couldn't find anything on Silver plate being toxic however I did find out it is either a nickel or copper alloy base and I believe copper may be toxic to birds if ingested? Is that right. At any rate, the tray is put away and thanks to Deb for posing the question.

You are correct that Copper is toxic to budgies, Nedra.

Always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to our little ones.

Dollar Tree has plastic silver tray's that would be safe for them.

Cause knowing them they may not now ...

Aww, but your little Spec is surely worth more than all the gold in the world!
What a cutie he is, delicately picking his seed to eat.

Thanks everyone! That's just one of the many things I love about this forum --= we're all 'looking out' for one another and our little charges!!!
Thanks for the heads up on the plastic tray JW. That might just be the 'ticket' for the budgies that are still reluctant to bath (like Buzz). He's mesmerized by his reflection in anything -- so I may try to find one of those.
