Default Cere and age?

Here is the male English budgie, better clearer pics....how does he look to you? Does his cere look normal? It almost looks a little brown or grey on the edges.

Here are the two of them together

Your boy is gorgeous!
His beak and cere look normal and healthy to me. There is a bit of flaking on the edges, yes, and that is just the old (and dirty, hence the greyish colour) skin that he is moulting.
Looking at him it's clear that he has gone through his first moult and he does have the mature colour on the cere. I can't see his eyes to check for the irises. He is at the very least 6 months old. Depending on how white his irises are, he could very well be older. To me he looks older than 6 months even though I can't see his eyes.

So it's normal for him to have some brown on his cere then? It is right above his beak on the cere....not sure you can see it in the photo? I have never seen a male with brown on his cere.

At what age do they go through their first and second molt? I'll try and get a pic of his eyes soon. I know he was born 2014 so I figured he was at least 6-8mths due to the color of his cere...but not a year until Jan at least.

I don't actually see brown, I see the skin that is flaking out and that skin is usually dirty and darker as well.
The first moult happens anywhere between 3 - 4 months old and the second is usually between 6 - 7 months old.

Humm ok. I see it on the bottom bit of the cere. It looks brownish grey but I guess I didn't think Ceres changed with molts. I have so much to learn!

I can see the brown on the bottom of his cere that you are talking about..Just above I can also see a bit of scale.

Beautiful birds, I love the throat spots on the male. I don't mean to scare you but if the brown on the cere begins to spread it could be an indication of a hormonal issue. I have a male that is being treated for that type of thing. His cere went from the normal blue to totally brown.

Here is a picture of him with the brown cere.

The same guy is seen below here when his cere was blue

Amber, your English couple is absolutely beautiful! I don't really see that brown color either. To me, it looks more purply.
He is so fluffy, lol.
