Default Birdmas Cages!

Hey everyone! It's **** day! HURRAH!

I LOVE Christmas and I really wanted to add a bit of festive cheer to my cage. I managed to nab a great "with love..." wooden gift tag from my pet store which they LOVE. I added some bells too, though I kept them external and out of reach so there was no little bits they could get their beaks into.. (just incase!!).

Anyone got any other ideas or have added any pet-friendly style Christmas decorations to their cages? Dogs, cats etc have so darn much!! So I've tried to be creative but keep it bird-friendly!!

Ohhhhhhhh what a brilliant idea! I may just steal it! I think mine deserve a christmas themed cage this year! I'll be most excited to see what christmas style toys talk budgies community could make!

Maybe we could do a compition for best dressed xmas cage

Haha oh Bethany don't even suggest that!! That'll be another fortune I spend in an attempt! Haha - Fairy lights all over it! Think my birds will have a fit! Haha.

I was just interested to see if anyone else had taken a similar stance! You're more than welcome to the idea

Hehe, popcorn strings like those used to decorate Christmas trees could be fun. Just make sure to string with a light bird safe wire

Li, what is a popcorn string?!?

I don't think we have those in Ireland...? Lol!

Definitely - this is where the complications start - because there aren't many bird specific decorations, we have to use our brain to know what is safe for the birds while making it festive heh!

The end of the string of the bells you see on my cage, I have coated in non-toxic glue in case they manage somehow to get their beaks onto it. When they are out of the cage I take the bells away (they are only loosely connected). But they don't seem to have much interest either way. Now if they were REAL bells that made noise, and not this decorative stuff - it may be a different story! hehe.

A popcorn string, is when you pop corn, thread a needle, and put the popped corn on the string.

EDIT: I'm done Googling - this is so cool! I need to make one for the budgies haha. Presumably from your suggestion Li they like popcorn?

Popcorn string sounds like a cool idea. However, I would be careful - you don't want their little feet tangled in the string
Why don't you just cut some star shapes out of cardboard and hang them in the cage - they could happily shred those. Attach a bell at the bottom too.

Nice idea Dee!!

I wonder how coloured card fares? Would it be safe? Could have coloured yellow stars! With bell in toe of course! What a great idea!
