Default A back view of the three budgie friends

Albert is much larger than his two pals. And Russell and Oliver are much larger than Standard Budgies. But the breeder said he comes from a line of English Budgies that were "show" budgies (they go to competitions like the AKC dog shows here in the US). I found some conformation specs on "Barrie's Budgerigar's" like the following: "The length of the ideal budgerigar should be eight and a half inches(216mm) from the top of the head to the tip of the tail.It is essential that the bird is of balance and style and it's position should be steady on the perch at an angle of 30 degrees from the vertival, looking natural and fearless." Um, Albert is over ten inches. LOL I didn't get him because of that. I specified that I wanted the one most comfortable with people and the least timid. If it was yellow, that would be icing on the cake, but a male and not very timid were the two "must have" qualities. When the shop called me, I was told that Albert happened to fit all three of the things I was looking for when babies were available! It was only after I met him and said "He's HUGE" that they told me he was from a show line.

What a lovely group photo!
He is huge, especially considering that Mallorn is about 6 inches head to tail!
I just know that Albert will grow up to be a very handsome bird!
Which place did you get him from? Wish they had one over here!

All three are beautiful and you know the forum members are in love with Baby Albert.

I see the breeder did not clip Albert's flight feathers when you got him which adds to his handsome appearance in the picture.

Wow, it really is remarkable your Albert's difference in size!

I asked them please do not clip his flight feathers. He's way too heavy to drop to the ground and be a baby. Plus I wanted him to be able to fly for exercise. He is like a big C-130 military cargo plane when he flies. Landing is getting more graceful, but sometimes when he's coming in, the others are like "Hold on, y'all, INCOMING!". Russell just got his left wing feathers cut off. She noticed that he spun like a helicopter, if you will, if he tried to fly because all of his flight feathers had molted in on his left wing. So she cut them to help him. Except it didn't help at all, he really drops now. I've told him "I'm so sorry" a hundred times, I'm sure. Because of his bad right wing, I have always kept play gyms and hung swings from plastic chains so that they are really low. I know birds like to be up high, but Russell just can't be in case he falls. He doesn't have the strongest grip, either, you see. Oliver has just started molting.

It's a store called "Omar's Exotic Birds" here in California. The owner is the only breeder of their English Budgies. I'll post pictures of a couple new babies they have. You can tell it's Spring!

It's great that you guys have such a great family-owned store in town! Those are always the best ones: Here where I live, we don't

It is nice to be able to walk in and know the people. And they know your birds. I had to board once and I wasn't worried a bit. The birds knew where they were. They also give you a card to use at certain avian vets in the area for the well-bird/initial exam. You have to pay for bloodwork, fecal, etc., but hey, knocking off the fee for the exam from a certified avian vet is helpful. And they encourage you to take your bird for the vet visit, even for a Budgie (for a standard Budgie, you would pay more to walk through the vet's door than you did for the bird). I'm not trying to be disrespectful about birds that don't cost several hundred to well over a thousand dollars. My Budgies are PRICELESS to me because of the happiness they bring me. How did I get to talking about this? LOL Yes, it's nice to have a shop like the one I got my birds from, for sure.
