What a success! I was worried, because these are birds that freak out when I move their cage three feet to clean underneath it. But they handled the trip pretty well (I had to recruit my husband to help wrangle the F50 down a couple steps), and once they were out, they seemed happy and chill!

We're definitely going to have to do this again when they're NOT molting, for even prettier pictures. Also, I think I know their (straightforward) mutations, but if anyone would be willing to tell me, it would be nice to know for sure. I'm hopeless, even with the obvious ones.

Trouble and Spidey from behind (sorry about the blur. Very old iPhone camera.)

Drifter looking, as usual, beautiful and aloof

I'm glad your boys had a good time outdoors, that last pic is so funny, they all have the same expression!

It's the perfect time of year for it! Warm enough for budgies outside, and unlike midsummer, not a big temperature shift between indoors and out.

Thanks! That last picture totally cracked me up. Like Aluz says, they're all giving me the same look: "What ARE you doing, crazy lady?"

Thank you! So, okay, I was right, I'm hopeless at mutations. Opaline because the markings across their shoulers are sort of "blurry"? Duke is definitely dominant pied when you can see him from the front: colored chest and rump, band of white around the belly. Spidey is confusing. His cere, feet and "thumbprint" show pied, but he doesn't have many pied feathers.

Right? The recent stories here on the forums of birds of prey attacking budgies through their cage had me so paranoid I did all my weed-pulling within about a 6-foot radius of the cage, and I tied all the non-latching doors shut, and it was still a bit nerve-wracking. Other than that, though, such a positive experience!
