Welcome Rio

Hey all

Well after much humming and ahhhing over a new addition to the house - I tried local rescue places - I looked on advertising for a budgie near to Tilly's age I couldn't find a suitable match - I took the plunge & have got this little
Guy ! I've named him Rio !
I am quarantining at the moment - I let them sit side by side in cages for a quick hello and have let him have a look at his surroundings but now
He's in my bedroom in his own quarantined cage until he's ready - that's if him and Tilly become friends ! They may not hit it off! We shall see!

Any tips for training a new budgie to become extremely tame? With Tilly and Harley as a pair it was very easy ! As a lone and having to divide my attention in either room it seems more of a challenge!

Any tips would be very helpful!
And I'm still unsure whether I have made the right decision! I'm worrying I've made the wrong decision!

I hope this a turns out for the best!!!! Me & Tilly have got such a great bond now and I don't want to lose that either x

Little Rio is adorable! Having him in quarantine for 4-6 weeks will give you time to give him lots of individual attention so he'll be well on his way to being bonded to you before he and Tilly become friends.

I think the fact that Tilly is already so bonded to you will help encourage Rio to be more trusting of you when the two get together.

Wishing you all the best with your new little fellow.

Wow...handsome fellow. Congrats Sammy...:)

I agree with Deb, work with him during quarantine, and after I would still keep them in separate cages for awhile but in the same vicinity, and allow him to see you interact with her...:)

Congratulations on your new budgie boy, Rio is absolutely adorable! :)
Enjoy the one-on-one time with him during quarantine, he appears to have a really sweet disposition, so you shouldn't have many troubles with training and establishing a bond, the fact that he is young is a plus too.
Tilly will also help him out when quarantine is over and make him more trusting of you.
Best of luck with little Rio! :D

Rio is a beautiful little guy, Tilly is sure to become friends with him. It has been my experience that a tame bird has a great influence on those not tame.
I adopted 2 tame birds from someone that had to give them up and they were a great influence on the others. When my rescue boys that were not tame saw the tame ones interacting with me they decided I was not so bad after all and started sitting on my head and would hop on and off my arm at times.
