I had been going thou some old photo today when I cam across this one I wanted to share with you all. I must have been about 10 here, at which point my love of budgies began, I still remember coming home from school one day and my dad saying "ant come here and look in the front room" and there he was , Charlie my first pet. Over the next few years me and Charlie create a strong bond, the minute I came home from school I was up in my room, Charlie would be out of the cage for the rest of the evening by my side or on my shoulder, he would love to be stroked and tickled and talk in my ear, I loved the bird. Sadly Charlie passed away around 6 years old, I was naturally devastated but take so many memories of Charlie being a big part of my childhood. Years when by after this, growing up, having children of my own, 25 years in fact, do at the ripe old age of 35 I decided to get another budgie, what did I call him, well you already know the answer, Charlie, a month later a hot another, lemon, anyway heres that old pic I was talking about , just excuse the drawing on the wall !!
It sure is great to remember the happy times we had with our beloved birdies while growing up. I see your first Charlie was a really special boy!
My father was also the one who got me into budgies, I was 5 years old and not to keen on starting elementary school. My father took advantge of my love for animals (I used to go almost daily to my grandparents to feed and pet the chickens) and made a deal with me. I would go to school without making a fuss and be a good student and in exchange he would get me a pet.
My first day of school went well and I behaved accordingly, that very same day when I got back home I found a cage with two gorgeous normal green budgies. I fell in love with them on the spot and the rest is history.
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
