Default A very itchy gentleman

I got my proper camera out this morning and decided to try a proper photo-shoot with Clouds. I was curious as to how he would react to the camera.

The light was perfect as he sat on his tree just after breakfast. Of course it was also time for beautification, so I had the pleasure of catching His Lordship in the most undignified poses

And then for a well-deserved treat...

There is more in PhotoBucket for those who are interested. In some of those close-ups (see 4th picture for example), you can clearly see the signs on scaly mite. His beak looks a bit long as well. It that scaly mite too, or does it have anything to do with the fact that he doesn't seem to use the cuttlebones at all?

Clouds is a quite handsome fellow.

By the way, a little birdie told me Clouds plans to get even by posting pictures of you when you aren't looking your best!

I just looked at your PhotoBucket album and you have some AWESOME pictures of Clouds there.

Chewing on wood, shredding toys, and cuttlebones help to keep budgies' beaks trimmed. However, some budgies beaks grow longer than others and Clouds may require his to be trimmed by your Avian Vet.

These pictures are stunning--I want to purchase a new camera soon, which one do you have?
Great photography, loved looking at him! He's very handsome, undignified or otherwise
I think it's just a beak thing, some budgie's beaks grow faster than others. You can always get it filed at the vet if it grows too long.
Thanks for the pics, I enjoyed them immensely

I wouldn't look half as cute as him... and you'd have to edit them out of his post

I was afraid you'd say that. He doesn't chew or shred. Grrrr... What kind of 'chew' starter would you recommend?

Thanks for the compliments. I'll pass his on to Clouds

The camera is nothing fancy, although I have enjoyed it immensely since I bought it last year. It's a Canon 700D, which has a very nice sensitive sensor. In all fairness, what really 'makes' the picture is (not any talent of mine but) the Sigma DG Macro lens (105mm 1:2.8). That was a Christmas present from my fabulous Alex, a few years ago.

I hope Clouds learns to chew soon, as I'd much rather spare him the experience of a beak trim.

Great pictures, you managed to capture a really good preening session!
That 4th picture of Clouds where he noticed you is very funny!

Very nice pictures of a cute budgie. I'm a little concerned however at the way his cere looks- the crusty brown strip where it meets his beak Could he have a mite issue?

Good spotting Mark. Yes, Clouds is being treated. Thanks for pointing it out though
