My Bonnie has the freedom of my lounge and has his own roosting area by one of my windows but with the hot weather I have been getting hot and sticky with not being able to open the windows or balcony doors!
After his morning feed I managed to get him shut in his cage, which he hates and then put him out on my little balcony, after a few minutes of unrest he has settled down and seems to be enjoying it, it only gets the early sun after about 11 it gets shade so he will not get too hot.
I hope it continues as it will make my summer a bit more comfortable
Haven't had a good enough day since to put him out again but the good news is that it didn't put him off going in his cage! He is an aviary bred bird and doesn't like the restrictions of a cage so he uses it for feeding and sometimes at night other times he has his own little perch and preen place here on the windowsill, which he loves.
But since being shut in his cage to be on the balcony he seems fine, he squarked and played up at first but after a while settled down to listen to the birds, I live on the edge of a nature reserve so plenty of birds.
I love his little sitting area! Did you make it yourself?
Yes I just used a very large heavy vase and went down to the nature reserve and cut off some nice hazel branches for him, as it is a nature reserve they have no pesticide or anything harmful on them, he has a couple in his cage instead of man made perches as well.
