Echo's got hightlights?

Hi, a few days ago I noticed a feather on Echo's forhead that was just a little lighter than the rest. It was hardly noticable so couldn't get any photos of it to show. Now theres a few more of the lighter, whitish yellow, feathers and there dotted round his forehead:eek:. Even though it was very difficult, because Echo is camera shy, I got a farely decent photo of them:).

My mum said it's due to malting but I'm not so sure, Echo is about 5 months old now and still going through his first malt. Could this be caused by malting:S

If you have any idea what could cause these "highlights" please tell me.

Your mother is right, what you are seeing on Echo's forehead are pin feathers, soon the new feathers will break through the pins and he will have beautiful yellow feathers. That's all very normal and part moulting. :)
Your Echo is a really gorgeous boy!

Those are pin feathers perfectly normal when your little fellow is going through his molt :)

Thank you
You have put my mind at ease, I was slightly worried it could be a sign for some kind of illness.

Aww, Echo is such a handsome little budgie and those pinnies also give him a Richard Gere-like distinction:D

Your mother is correct and Echo is beginning his first molt.
He's a cutie and his pinnies do look a bit like feather "highlights" :giggle:

I know Echo is itchy, he has fallen off is perch while scratching before, but he's also fallen of his perch wile sleeping.

I have got Echo a bath and he never uses it. I have beeing thinking of getting a shower spray or a plant spray with a mist setting, but don't know how'll he'll react to it.
