Default Silly Princess Raptor

Hello everyone once more bringing more news about Raptor , my little queen got such a strong personality absolutely love it, in general everything goes PERFECT, as you see in the pictures she is the BEST!! help during exams... whenever I leave her sight she start shouting and when I kiss her she makes some very lovely sounds(she loves to get kissed), she is very "vocal", since a week ago she likes to get on my shoulder plays with my necklace and plays with my hair, beard and as you can see she loves nap times, we nap together sometimes others all by her self on my laptop, she loves it but I know why, the weather is getting colder and colder, so from there I start with usual questions

1) Is it good to get heated perches? any good experience, or good brands and any dangers ? I need to address the cold situation as soon as possible for my little baby since in Milan winter is knocking the front door and it gets very cold.
2)This is the big one, I'm already on the search of a breeder here in Italy I don't care if I have to travel (so if you know anyone let know), I wanna get her a hand feded English grey baby boy as partner and hopefully one day making our family bigger with my baby's babies, how should I manage the approach between them, tips please since she is still young and maybe she can get jealous, is it the right time or should I wait more and most important its possible to have 2 budgies under bonding together and at the same time them to be as close with you like if it was 1 ?

Thanks everyone as always from both of us

She is certainly a pretty thing and sounds to have a wonderful personality. I have no experience with heated perches myself, hopefully some of our members can advise you on that. She is pretty young yet so you can start looking for the potential mate and not feel rushed. We have a ton of good info here on breeding that will benefit you greatly when the time does come.

Sound's like you and her are establishing a great bond, and when you get the new bird, you can keep them separated, and work on maintaining your bond with her while you build one with him...

I have this perch for my budgie Gently warming consistent 102 degrees ensuring your birds comfort

With heated perches, it is recommended not to make it the highest perch in the cage-- put it somewhere near the middle. Budgies will always gravitate to the highest one, and you don't want them to feel obligated to use the heated one, and then possibly be too warm on the feet. I have seen my budgies using it a bit during cold new England winters, but it doesn't completely solve the issue-- you will still need to keep the heat running! During the summer you can remove the plug and use it as a normal perch.

First of all, budgies are flexible .We have breeder friends who have budgies in out door aviaries where the birds can fly in/out when there is snow on the ground you just do it gradually We live in Georgia and keep our bird room between 50 and 70in the winter and no higher than 85 in the summer. We have friends who have budgies where temp in the aviary approaches freezing with no problems. We personally like the ceramic heat only bulbs no higher than 60 watts and directed so bird can move away if it gets to hot. If you keep your house normal temps between 60's and 70's+- during the winter, I would suggest that this is OK for your bird. Keep the heat bulb for illness and get a pet snuggle from amazon it is hard plastic and is heated in the microwave for about 5 min and will last for 8hrs+_. It is great for cold toes in bed for people as well. it has a replaceable cover and is less expensive than the perch. My budgies were not attracted to the perch as little ones would slide off and now the added sand on the surface can be so sharp it hurts budgie feet. I think it is great for the larger birds ,just not budgies. You can also microwave plastic bottles and wrap in small towel and lay it on the bottom of cage or fill sock with dry grain like peas and microwave and hang near budgie's favorite perch at night. We cover our smaller flight cages on sides and top but not front unless very cold and everyone does fine we have emergency propane heaters for the aviary and as back up in the house for the occasional blizzard that blows through. and use heat lamps, or
snuggles when we travel by car or it is extra cold. We cover the cage with space blanket and put a snuggle on top or under the cage to contain the heat. s rapid temp change that is risky for a bird to adjust to and drafts blowing on the cage directly. Blessings, Jo Ann

It's great to see your little Raptor again, she's such a cutie!
