Default The New Babies

Hi everyone. I posted a few weeks ago in New Budgie Arrivals and finally have some time to post some pics.
Fortunately they are very used to having our hands around them and doing well with our "up, up, up" requests.
Out of a grand total of 10 eggs (6 duds, 4 hatched) we have our two survivors:

The youngest:

The 'oldest':

Getting ready to break out:

Dad and son/daughter? (you can see where mom bit dad. healing up nicely though)

And then there were three: (The cage was cleaned up and the poopie cuttle bone was removed right after this pic.)

Mama is still in here own cage. Going to reunite everyone tonight or tomorrow.

To those who offered advice and shared seriously good information when the chicks started hatching.....a big thank you to all of you.

The babies are adorable and I'm glad to hear that Dad's wound is healing nicely. Keep a sharp eye on Mom when you reunite them to ensure he is not aggressive toward Dad or babies. If she is she will need to continue to be kept in a separate cage so she doesn't hurt anybudgie.

Your little white one (the oldest) is male and the youngest is female.
Mom may go after the little female so please be careful.

Are you going to keep both of the babies?

Your little ones are adorable, what a beautiful little budgie family you have there!
Good luck in reintroducing mother budgie to the family. If the chicks have fledged and are fully weaned, before moving in budgie momma, be sure to remove the nest box to avoid future problems.
If the mother starts attacking the chicks, the best thing to do is to place the little ones on their own cage away from parents. This way you will be avoiding potential fights and undesirable pairings between mother/son or father/daughter. You can keep both cages close by so that they can all see and communicate with each other.

Thank you for sharing these precious photos! I love the one where the little boy's head is popping out of the nesting box!

Glad to hear Daddy bird is healing well.

They are so cute! I agree with Deborah's gender guesses, although it's hard to see the cere of the bluish one so if you'd like a definite gender on that one, feel free to post more pictures! Also, we just love baby budgies

I'm glad Daddy Bird's wound is healing nicely and that the chicks are all doing well

Thanks for sharing your little cuties!

Glad you liked the pics. Mom and Dad are in one cage and the kids are in another. Dad spent the first hour hanging on the side of the cage nearest the chicks and they chirped at each other for a bit, then the chicks turned and started preening each other, ignoring dad....typical kids, right?

They let me pet their heads and have no reaction when we open the cage and reach in.
