PeetaAndPippin is on a distinguished road
Default Welcome to the clan, Merri & Mylo!

First pair from a reputable, local breeder. No more big box pet store purchases for me, lost Caesar and probably Peeta soon... Too devastating. Purchased the new birds now so they could be quarantined ASAP and ready for Pippin when the time comes... Bittersweet.
They were very quiet and scared for the most part, but I saw them both go for some food right around sundown. Looking forward to getting to know them

Your two new budgies are lovely!
I'm so glad you purchased from a reputable breeder rather than a big-box pet store.
I'm assuming one is female and one male?
I can't see their ceres well enough in the picture you posted to tell.

One thing to keep in mind is that sometimes with three budgies two will bond to one another and the third will kind of be left-out and treated as the third wheel. This is not always the case, but I thought I should mention it.

Additionally, if you are keeping two of one gender in the same cage with one of the other gender, that can cause potential problems as well. It's best to have an even ratio of males to females.

Merri and Mylo are beautiful - I love the green coloring on them both. I hope they settle in soon.

Thank you, yes I was hoping to have 3. However, if what you've mentioned becomes a problem, I have no issue getting a 4th.
The two new birds are both male, as is Pippin. No females, I really have heard less than desirable things about them and felt the boys would be easier.

How will I know if one is "left out"? Will there be obvious signs?

Thank you!

I'm glad you have all males

Yes, if one is being left out you'll notice it right away. You'll see two of them doing everything together and the other being either "tolerated" or sometimes outright ignored.

As I said, it doesn't always happen -- so far I'm doing OK with Skipper, Scooter and Sparky.
What I find with these three is they alternate attention.
Sometimes it's Skipper and Scooter, other times it's Skipper and Sparky and sometimes it's Scooter and Sparky together -- with the other off doing his own thing.
As long as nobudgie is left out on a regular basis, I'm fine with it
and ... every once in a while, all three will even hang out together!

Merri and a Mylo are beautiful boys! I, so glad you were able to adopt them from a good breeder instead of having to support the awful pet stores I wish there was more awareness about pet store birds to prevent so much suffering.

At any rate, I'm sure they'll be a lovely addition to the house and cheer up Pippin after his friend deteriorates. I know it must be hard to visualise the future without Peeta in this case but it was the right thing to do for Pip.

Keep us posted

They are lovely, I hope they all get along smoothly, I have three males they do tend to leave Budget out a little Blue and Fifo both share a cage and Budget has his own in my situation.
