My two new cages came today and with the majority of the clearing up now done (I have a tiny bit still to do), I was able to set up the cages today and rehome the budgies! It started well as I moved Sage and Jay to their new cage. They both jumped straight in and before I could close the door, they were both out.
So I decided, one last time, I'd let the whole flock out at the same time, something I haven't done for a couple of weeks now.
Sage, Jay and Skye hang out on one of the cages
They had a nice flap about and Jake was asserting himself with Jay. They all settled down and eventually started to go to some of the cages for food.
They all pretty much look the same....
Jimmy and Sunny did a flyby while I took a picture of their swing between cages.
And yes, I let Sunny come back in with Jimmy and see how they do for the next couple of days to see if they can stay together for a while or not.
They were a lot calmer and I didn't see any attempts to mate so I'll make sure it stays that way.
The big cage. Skye was the first one to pop in here so he is King of the Castle! I felt mean picking a bird to go in so I figure whoever goes for food first, gets it.
Here's Jake. He just wanted to say hi.
Jimmy and Sunny get down to foraging. I gave them a couple of bits of millet (the small bits, not whole bits) and some fruity pellets just in case they wanted to try them.
Lastly, my feather collection.
I'll get more photos of the birds tomorrow. It was getting late by the time I was done. I like to have natural light for the photos when I can.
This is the only picture I got of the cages all set up as a whole and I took it with my phone to show my friend so it's not great but you get the idea.
