Smile Its been a while! Heres my new family member!

Hello everyone!

Its been a while since I posted in here. Been busy with Christmas, and travelling and job hunting (still)

I think I mentioned that I was talking to a lady who had about 9 Budgies and was looking to rehome one of her males. He was not happy with the others as they had all paired off and he lost his mate a while back. He has had a hard life but is a fighter. I picked him up last night and his name is Rocky. Here he is!

I have been told his first owner was a tenn that had no clue what they were doing. Rocky came with his brother who both had their wings clipped totally wrong and were treated pretty bad. His brother died sadly which made Rocky sad. He then bonded with a female Mac, she sadly died which left Rocky in a bad way. He then went on to have a stroke! He has suppliments that his owner and now my friend has given me, which I have made notes on. Hes been here for one night. He is singing away right now very happy. Hes had his egg and seed today and swung on his swing as well! I am glad I can home him as hes a beautiful bird and he called to me the minute I saw his picture.

Pepi is doing great still. Hes a happy little bird and can hear Rocky in the other room. They have chirped together which is cute! I am not sure I will be putting them together but we shall see. Rocky is very used to being out the cage where Pepi is scared and happy in his home. I will give it a while before I let Rocky out and see how it goes. He knows step up and loves to potter about

Welcome back and congratulations on your latest arrival!
I'm glad you ended up by adopting Rocky, he is a gorgeous boy and has quite the stylish hairdo!

I'm sorry that Rocky had a stroke... I've been down the same road with one of my most beloved birdies.
Are the supplements just vitamins or are they really heart medication?
Do have to give Rocky his medication via beak with a dropper or is it placed onto his food/water?
If it's the latter, then it would be best to cage your boys separately or you may run the risk of Pepi ingesting the supplements for Rocky and if that happens to be heart medication, it can be detrimental to Pepi.

Hello!

So far is vitamins to help keep him in top condition. She did give me a few meds but she said to only give them (via dropper) after contacting her if I am concerned. She said hes been fit and well for a while now but she made sure to have meds around. She said it was panting that tells you his getting a bit under the weather. In that case I would contact her so she can advice what to do. Shes super informative and shes so nice to talk to other than Budgies haha. Yeah they are happy apart and if I ever need to give him meds it would be via a dropper so, like you said, Pepi would not accidently have any meds

Hes a beautiful boy and so relaxed. Even if they did not go in the same cage, as Rocky loves to be out he can always go to Pepi and say hello in the future. Once Quarentine is over then I will let Rocky out in the same room as Pepi etc but right now they are seperated

I'm glad you gave Rocky a new home! He is a cutie and I really like his hairdo on the first photo! He almost looks like a little cockatiel!

Yes, I do know all about the out of the blue panting being related to a crisis episode, I've had a couple of scares after my boy's first stroke.
I'm glad Rocky's condition is stable now and he is currently on his vitamins only. My lovebird Khaleesi is on the same boat as your Rocky in terms of health.
I also keep his heart medication handy in case he needs it.

All the best to Rocky and I hope he and Pepi will be good friends after quarantine time is over.

It's wonderful that you've been able to take Rocky in and give him a safe and loving forever home.
I'm sure he'll thrive under your care with the attention you will give him.
Rocky's a handsome little guy and very stylish with his punk-rock feather-do.

I'm looking forward to updates and seeing more pictures of both Rocky and Pepi!

Best wishes

Oh he so is! Took him an hour to start exploring his cage and swinging away on his swing. Pepi never liked the swing so he is putting it to good use!
