Gorgeous.

Is the cere always a mixed blue colour in real life or is it a strong even pink colour?

Petie is adorable and has certainly grown quite a bit since your first thread.

It may be the lighting and angle in this picture, but Petie's cere now looks as if he may actually be a female.
The picture you posted initially certainly looked like a male.

If you could get a close-up picture of Petie's cere taken in natural light (no flash and no direct strong sunlight) it will be much easier to determine the gender.

I've had Petie for 2 months. Still no adult moult, I thought that might have happened by now.

Boy?

Has t always been this shade? I'm thinking female. I think petie was a very young bird when you found "him" maybe even from a nest. So it may take a while for a moult. Single budgies tend to actually take longer to start the moult too so could be up to 6 months of age before it happens.

The cere is a mixed blue from what I see. I think the lighting which is fluorescent in that room washed out the color. btw, I posted a close up. And, the shirt I'm wearing is a special "I don't care if my budgie poops on me shirt". I'm usually better dressed!

Unfortunately, the close up isn't showing up at this time--maybe try reposting it?

I believe he's still a boy, lighting can play some tricks on the colour but if what you see is a pretty dark blue he's most likely male

EDIT: Ha, I just realised you posted the close up in a new thread Disregard that first bit

He's definitely a boy, without a doubt It's normal for males out of condition to have lighter blue around the nostrils, although not so light so as to indicate female.

What a handsome fellow!
