Hello! I introduced myself the other day when I joined, but until I found out which genders our new babies were, we couldn't bring ourselves to name them properly. Thanks to some lovely people on this forum, we now know what genders we have, and now they are named!
Our big boy here is Charlie. He's a huge eater and enjoys spending a lot of time hanging upside down from the top of the cage. He is also the friendliest budgie we have - he already steps onto my finger, and when he sees me approach the cage, he hangs out at one of the doors and sings at me until I give him some loving attention!
This little guy is Oscar. He's quite friendly too, although he is still hesitant. He is quite smitten with Charlie, and often follows him around. They have quite a cute bromance
Our 7 year old son named this beautiful girl. She is Summer, because, "She looks like summer, Mum! Just like green grass and the sunshine". Summer is a very cheeky girl. She likes to sift through the seed and flick out what doesn't interest her - and makes quite a mess in the process! She also has devised a little game of "tag" where she flies to the front of the cage, right at my face level, then darts away and continues this while chirping and singing. (I think she's probably laughing at me!) Summer has quite a large personality!
And this beautiful, sweet little girl is Harper. Harper is quite shy, and she is not yet comfortable with us petting her, and she won't step to our fingers. I've just been leaving my hand in the cage with her / near her for short periods of time until she learns to trust me.
This is the last day they will be in the big cage all together - now I know the genders (and I know Charlie is wanting to/is mature enough to mate!), I am separating the girls from boys. The last thing we need is surprise eggs, especially as they are still so young. Not to mention, my budgie knowledge and experience is next to nothing! I'm just really enjoying them for who they are, and I find myself watching them far more often than I should be. (Who needs to do housework anyway!?)
Thanks for looking at our babies!
