Back at Christmas time, I visited my local pet store with my niece and sister-in-law. It was Christmas Eve as they surprised my Dad with a Christmas visit.
We needed to get some supplies from the pet shop and I went and got the birds a pre-Christmas treat.
As always, I paid a visit to the budgies and there were some nice ones there.
There was an English budgie that stood out as I've never seen an English budgie at any pet shop so far (Lucy came from someone else). But, I have plenty of birds and thought no more about it.
The other week I popped into the pet shop and again, did the budgie visit and saw the same female budgie still there. This is almost two months later and I felt bad for her and decided that if she was there the next time I visited, I'd give her a forever home.
So.... today I had to pop in for something for my dog, Holly and she was still there. Lots of new budgie friends (last time she was the only one, and still no one wanted her). So I made the decision to take her home.
I've decided to call her Eve. I don't plan to get any others to even up my numbers, but if needed I will do. The girls tend to just like being left alone so I might eventually give Eve a cage with Lucy, if they get on well.
I'm just going to see how things go with her introduction into the flock when the time it right.
I believe she is a lutino, she has red eyes and is an English budgie as well.
This is the best picture I could get of her, I didn't want to upset her too much. She's very calm and even in the pet shop when I spoke to her, she was never very nervous.
Obviously, she's a mature girl, but that doesn't bother me. I'm just happy to give her a loving home.
And in case it's not obvious, I named her Eve seeing as I first saw her on Christmas Eve.
