Hello everyone I wanted to start this thread mostly for myself. I want to post everyday off my journey with Simon and our taming process, plus itíll keep me focused and on track. So ignore it if you want, but theyíre will be cute pictures of Simon so hold tight.
Day .5 (March 5th)
Today I brought Simon home! Iíve beeb wanting a birdie for almost a year now and finally did it, set up his cage and let him settle in, spent the rest of the night just sitting beside his cage.
he makes no noises. But I love him.
Day 1 (March 6th)
This morning I sat with Simon for about 20mins before I left for work for the day. Just talking to him and making sure he feels at home, the dogs have been talking to him too hope itís not too loud.
Heís starting to get a little voice-thanks to the dogs! Tonight he was starting to tweet along while they bark.
He is a nice looking budgie. Young also. Lots of years to be your bird friend/ You have it all well set up for Simon. A spacious cage with much to occupy him and a cover for warmth and at bedtime at night. You are off to a great start.
Iíd like to start by thanking everyone for the support and love!! Everyone has been very nice so far and it feels good to know this is a good place to ask for information and other experiences. Simon and I are in good hands!
Simon is the bravest little boy in the work the dogs barking do not phase him at all he even preens in front of the dogs. Oliver, my greyhound collie mix, is my baby so natural every time I talk to Simon he gets jealous. Jealousy is the green eyed monster, Oliver paws at me and barks whenever he feels like Iím forgetting about him. As long as Iím not talking to Simon Oliver doesnít mind.
The usual routine is happening, I talk to Simon about an hour a day. I wasnít home much today unfortunately but I made sure he got attention before I got to work, after I got home, and before I went out to see some family. I was worried for awhile because he seems to not move from a certain perch but I believe he just likes to sleep there as Iíve seen him moving around a but more. He doesnít know how to play yet but I put some millet on the roof of his cage so he can stretch a little to get at it, heís qlso started Peking at some of his toys so thatís a start!
He preens quite a bit now and Iím glad heís starting to feel at home!
Doesn't it make you feel good when all your babies are happy?! I have a spoiled rotten pooch as well and my boys seem to really like him. When the dog walks past the cage, both boys come flying down from the top of the cage and run to get the best view possible. They chirp and sing and get all excited. It's lovely to watch.
