Frayed rope perch

So I had this rope perch similar to this:

and my daughter noticed the birds were pecking at it and part of it was getting frayed. I removed the perch from the cage this morning, is there any way to salvage it and give it back to the birds? Can I just cut away the frayed part and still use it or is it not a good idea?

Personally, I'd cut away the frayed part and then just use it outside the cage.
I have a similar sisal one that they use as a landing perch in front of the main cage door.

Yeah I was thinking about that, although I'd have to get them to the point of actually being outside the cage. One step at a time. :cobalt::sky blue:

If they consumed it it'd be dangerous. I have a rope perch that's made of hemp so it's natural and safer. Maybe try something like that?

Rope perches are not recommended as the fibres can be extremely harmful when ingested. I recommend sticking to natural wooden perches.

If the birds are pecking at the rope, then it needs to be removed and disposed of.
