I think the thing that people think about having eight birds is that the noise must be awful.
I think that a little flock of budgies, or at least my little flock of budgies, doesn't tend to be too noisy. And they are especially quieter and more content when they are having out of cage time.
Here's a video of my flock from yesterday. There is a lot of preening going on in this clip, so I'll try and do some more today at random times to let you hear them in different conditions but this is pretty average for them.
They do seem to be fairly quieter and this mostly depends on the birds themselves and their personalities. Or maybe you haven't caught them yet on full out singing at the same time. Maybe they will make a serious competition if you happen to turn the radio or TV on.
I can tell you that 4 budgies can for sure make more than twice of the "noise" your flock is making on those videos.

Don't get me wrong, they certainly *can* be a lot noisier and they do have days where all day they are happily chirping away as loudly as they can. Even with the TV on (I tend to put the TV on the music channels for them) they still can be just fairly chatty and not really noisy.
Tomorrow, I'll leave them in their cages and have some music on and film them again and see how they are then.

Haha, Simply Red seems to have done the trick!
Mine also love the music channels, I always keep my TV on VH1 even during training/birdie rehab time.
My Luigi was conceived by the tunes of Katy Perry's "Roar", the song was on many times and his parents really liked it, go figure!

I had the TV on for them one day and my Mum switched over too the music channel for them saying they didn't like what I'd left on for them. So I always put Magic on for them now. It's a nice chilled out mix for them. Lots of love songs (hope it doesn't give them any ideas!!!).
That's so cute! I hope Luigi is very empowered because of it.
