Therm's Video Dump! (on-going)

I did the post before about the noise level of ten budgies.
As Julie wasn't able to view it I thought I'd re-do the last one.

This is regular evening chatter. I'd say this is happy, content level of noise. They've had some food, they are getting ready for bed and this is the last real chat they have before they all go silent for the night.

I'm hoping to do other moods at the weekend. :)

Love it, sounds like my house:giggle: it's when they all stop all of a sudden that I think what's going on.

Therm 08-17-2016 06:07 PM

Heehee I love it when they do that. Like sometimes there's a noise or they knock something down and they go silent but the unexpected silence is the weird one. I love it.

I'll try and get a real noisy one at the weekend.

My friend stayed with me for a few days and she remarked how pleasant it was with the budgies. she has a tiel so she's used to shrill calls and the budgies are so much more calm than that.

When they go silent, for what seems to me a unknown reason, I always wonder what it was that triggered it. Sometimes in the morning I have the budgies chattering, the canaries singing and the Linnies making their funny little noise, it's great to my ears. Would love to hear more of your flock.

I'd love to have some zebra finches chirping away as well, but I think I'm set for birds for now.
I'll hopefully get more this weekend. *fingers crossed*

Wow, you aren't kidding when you said "just imagine a pet store" :). I turned up the volume, and it made Mink chirp excitedly, but I guess what they were saying didn't interest Chip lol. Was it gossip I wonder? :giggle:

I'd love to hear more, and hear some other moods from your flock. Mine are so quiet, I love to hear budgies singing.

StarlingWings 08-17-2016 09:38 PM

What a cute video, Emma! I love the chirping, it's lovely

I thought from your last post you meant you were going to get more birds this weekend, not videos :giggle: :duhh:

I can't wait to see more videos :D

Here's a second video.

This one is quieter than the last. It's again in the evening so the budgies are more chilled and relaxing, but this time several have lulled into silence while a couple of boys do their best chirping.

Wouldn't you love to know what they are saying? :S

This is from this morning. While the budgies in general are being pretty quiet someone (ahem, Sadie) is being much more vocal.

Lovely videos, it seems Sadie is very much enthusiastic for the start of her Sunday! :)

FaeryBee 08-21-2016 10:33 AM

Sadie sounds as happy as can be! Very sweet.

Pegg 08-21-2016 10:40 AM

Sweet! Sadie sounds really happy :)

StarlingWings 08-21-2016 10:55 AM

How cute that Sadie is so excited! ;)

Therm 08-21-2016 11:14 AM

On some days a few of them are like that. Didn't she sound eager to come out and play? As soon as I opened the cages up, she sent on one of the perches and just chilled out. They all came out and were exceptionally quiet and low energy to start with. They picked up a bit after a little while.

Bubs 08-22-2016 05:09 PM

Thank you for videos. As a Budgie newbie, I love seeing how the cages are set up and what goes on as a budgie owner. The thought of many budgies sounds exciting! Maybe one day. We shall see? Natasha/Bubs

Therm 08-22-2016 05:23 PM

Thank you Natasha. :)
I like to move around the set up's outside the cages every now and then- maybe add some bits or move them about. I usually change perches and toys about in the cages weekly, to keep things different in their cages. As I have male & female pairs together, I want to discourage any breeding behaviour before it happens, so doing this has always worked for me.
