Default Yorkshire Wildlife Park & Skegness Seal Sanctuary Visit

I had a few days off last week and was very busy visiting lots of great places. During my travels, I went to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. It's a lovely park which has some really lovely enclosures for the animals, it's well thought out for both the animals and visitors.

Baboons. They had a nice group of baboons but we couldn't really see them very well. Of all the enclosures, this was the only one where due to the number of people there at the time, we couldn't get a really good look. But we saw enough of them.

This is also the only park in the UK to have polar bears. Altogether, they have four males, two in each enclosure. They had such a huge space and a really large lake to swim in.
This fella had taken his food into the water with him.

And this was the other bear that was in with him. He was happily playing with the buoys.

The ones in the other enclosure were further back as they both had taken their food and sat in more awkward positions, so I didn't get pictures of them.

They also had three lion prides, made up of three lions in each group and a mix of males and females.

this male got chased away by one of the females. Loads of kids were there on a schooltrip and when she chased him they all started screaming.

This is the female that chased the male. And then sat where he had been.

Leopard.

There was supposed to be three, but we only saw one, maybe two.

They had an enclosure called the wallaby walk where you walked through and the wallabys were all around and just grazing and hopping by.

One of the babies came over to me and started to nibble on my jeans.

I'll have to upload some more of the seal sanctuary pictures as I have none with seals on at the minute!

Emma,

You got some really great pictures of the animals at the Wildlife Park.

I absolutely LOVE the lions (and the leopard). I've always found the big cats to be totally amazing creatures.

The polar bears look like they are enjoying their dip and it's really cool that one of the wallaby babies wanted to "taste" your jeans.

Thanks so much for posting these!
I'll be looking forward to seeing the seals as well.

Great photos Emma. The animals all look to be in wonderful condition.

Wallaby Joey's are very inquisitive and will nibble on anything testing out if it is edible or not. The Wallaby's must be getting well looked after as they won't have Joey's unless the conditions are absolutely right.

Thanks for your kind comments.
Here are the seal sanctuary pictures.

I got a bit artsy here because they had a butterfly house and the plants and butterflies looked so lovely I wanted to take some high contrast black & white images so there's a few of those mixed in.

First, a pretty butterfly...

or two...

I loved the way this butterfly was hanging down.

Plant life!

Cactus

Pirhanas!

And now for some a little more colourful!
Adorable young seal!

Now the seal sanctuary takes care of seals, so they have a few older seals, but they rescue any young injured or ill seals and then release them back into the wild.

These two are youngsters that have left the hospital and will go back into the wild soon.

Pretty butterfly. I love the butterfly eyes!

Such a pretty butterfly displaying for me!

Flamingo preening!

Look at this cute seal face!

Besides from the seals, there were other cute little guys...

Like these java sparrows!

These guys had nests with eggs as well.

Lovely tiel
