Well, I've had my two budgies in the classroom for the first half of the school year, and so far it is working out marvelously. I go in on weekends and feed them, but during the week, I let the students help out. Of course, for the Christmas Break I brought them home with me.
Casper and Mr. Tweeterson seem to be very happy, chipper budgies. They don't really distract the students, and the students still love to go up to the cage and look at them. Every once in a while, they will start squawking, but they quiet down quickly if I talk to them in a gentle voice. We all love it when they sing or chirp. Their favorite thing to do is to imitate the electric pencil sharpener! It is just too funny!
That is awesome rain. I wish I would have had a teacher like you. Your exposing young people to the wonderful world of budgies, that might not otherwise ever know. Good to hear that it is working out well...
He came down from Heaven unto this earth below
He came down from glory and praises untold
He came down to man fashioned in their way
He came down to rescue, He came down to save
Thats great Rain, I will always have fond memories of my grade 2 primary school we had a pet budgie in the classroom, the teacher sometimes let him out and he would fly about and often land on one of us students, it was a great introduction to these cute little feathered fellas.
