On March 16th, Lemon Drop and I had been together for six months!
Unfortunately, I was out of town, so we didn't get to celebrate together. I was so sad when I got home at 1AM on Sunday morning and the place where her cage sits was empty. I picked her up yesterday afternoon from the friend who was caring for her, and Lemon Drop sang all the way home. I was gone for 6 days, so she was very happy to seem me. She has been trying to figure out how to be near me in the last day, sitting near me when I am in my favorite chair, perching on the computer, landing on my phone while I try to text and even flying to my hands (which she is still convinced are fun to munch).
When first I met Lemon Drop in the pet store, I thought she seemed sweet and interested in the world. She is beautiful but there were many other birds that had colors I like much better than yellow. However, I knew I wanted to pick my bird for its personality, so she won out. I have been so happy ever since that she is my feathered companion. She keeps me company, cheers me when I am down, makes me eat more veggies as I try to keep them around for her, and makes me smile and laugh.
Happy six-month anniversary, Lemon Drop! I love you lots and am so glad that I brought you home!
Aw, congratulations Goldenwing and Lemon Drop on your 6 month Friendaversary. I strongly believe you were meant to choose that sweet little yellow bird on that day, and she was destined to become your best friend. The 2 of you have a beautiful relationship and it's wonderful to read along as it progresses. I especially love seeing your photos of Lemon Drop and her adventures. Here's to the next 6 months and beyond. I'm sure they'll be awesome!
