I have this beautiful budgie who was sold to me as a girl. I named her Laura. She is now 15 months old and has never come into breeding condition. She is currently going through her second moult.
She is a lovely bird with the sweetest temperament and always the first to take new babies under her wing (no pun intended! ). She would make a fabulous Mama but I just cannot be sure whether she is Martha or Arthur until something happens
I'm seeing a brown colour/crust on both photos, this is on the bottom part of the cere in the middle and right side of the cere.
It really seems like Laura is starting to come into breeding condition now.
What colour do you normally see on Laura's cere?
A recessive pied female not in breeding condition will have the normal creamy white cere which may or may not have some faint bluish colour on the edges.
The cere on recessive pied males will have a uniform pinkish or purplish colour, their ceres will not mature into the royal blue colour.

You are missed and never will be forgotten.
Thank you Aluz....Her cere is usually creamy white and sometimes shows a very faint blue tinge, which is why I was confused.... It would be marvelous to see her with her own babies
Then Laura really is a budgie girl, only she is taking her sweet time in properly coming into breeding condition for the first time.
If the photos you posted are updated, then chances are very high she will soon be sporting a fully dark brown cere.

She's a very sweet looking girl and I'm glad aluz was able to help you out. It's strange how the females breeding condition changes from one girl to another. Maybe her moults have put her out of season.
One of my girls, Sage, comes out of breeding condition when she moults whereas Sunny has gone into breeding condition and not come out so far and she went into it in October last year.
My fingers are firmly crossed for Laura then....the photo's were taken this morning.....Hopefully be posting pics of her babies in the not too distant...
Thank You
Yes it's strange how nature works isn't it? Most of my buds seem to have been in condition for months which made Laura's non-condition all the more obvious. I just keep telling her she is a beautiful girl and it doesn't matter if she never has babies (although secretly I am fibbing )
