Gender help, please!

Hello, all! (Side note: I'm so happy to be back on talkbudgies.:001_tongue:)

I need help with the gender of a new foster. S/he is 14 years old(!) and I have no idea if hormone changes as budgies age affect their cere coloring. The photos I have are not great, but I'll also give a description. Background color is chalky white, but there is a fair amount of light blue, almost gray blue. To get better pictures I would probably have to start by getting Birdie (what can I say? That's what the person who surrendered him/her listed as a name) in a carrier. Birdie does NOT like phones. :001_tongue:

Both budgies are female :)

I agree, both budgies shown are female! :)

They're both beautiful little girls!

How wonderful for the older lady bird that you get to look after her :flowers:

It is great to see you around here, Leah! :D I hope to stay updated on your new fosters!

Happy to have female gender confirmed. As well as being referred to as "Birdie" on the surrender form, Birdie has been referred to as "he" for most of her life.

Any name suggestions for a smart, older female gladly taken! I would also love mutation information, just cause I think she should have a big fuss made over her. :001_smile:

It's common for less knowledgable people to refer to females who are out of condition as males, because they see the hint of blue and think male.

Unfortunately your photos aren't working anymore. Photobucket has been doing some weird stuff, but if you re post the photos using IMGUR, the mutations experts on here should be able to help you :)

Leah,

I know you've been away for awhile so you may be unaware of the problems with PhotoBucket.

Your pictures are no longer showing. :(

Fixed, though not necessarily with the same photos!

Since I asked for mutation as well, and name suggestions, I can use that as an excuse to post a few more pictures. ;) Oh, and I'll add that I foster for a rescue group, so the name needs to take that into consideration: would the average American know how to pronounce it, etc.

She is gorgeous! I would name her Angel because of her white wings :D

lbeckman 10-26-2017 10:10 AM

She says thank you for the complement, though she's laughing at the idea of being named "Angel", since she's just a tad naughty. She understood which cage was hers very quickly and was great about going back to it until it occurred to her that she did NOT want to be in it when I am doing bedtime routine. :innocent: <--- NOT her ;)
