Default Please advise on gender.

Hi. I asked about this little birb's gender on another forum and the users there were 90% sure that this is a female, but I wanted to get a second opinion to be 100% sure. Thanks in advance!

Yep, definitely an adorable female. Have you got a name for her yet?

Not yet, but now that we know her gender, we'll definitely be coming up with one very quickly!

Thanks a lot.

No problem How long have you had her? It is recommended to give new budgies a minimum of two weeks to get used to their environment, without trying to touch them. Of course if you have had her for a while then you won't need to worry about this

We've had her for about a month and a half. She's really sweet and loving. She settled in smoothly. She isn't afraid of hands or human contact at all. Even when a guest puts out their finger in front of her, she hops right on!

The breeder had told us that she was male, but the cere color had us wondering. We've been calling her a boy all this time!

Maybe the breeder, has a few budgies and has bred a few, but doesn't know the ins and outs of determining sex of youngsters. Most of us know that if you get a budgie from a pet store it's a 50-50 toss if they'll sex it correctly. For many sales clerks I've talked with over the last few years the story is blue means boy, but that's for adult males (adult males have a dark royal blue) but not all. Your budgie has a normal pale blue cere which is normal for a young hen, and will gradually turn brownish which she comes into breeding condition. She's beautiful and I'm sure you're having fun watching her develop.
