Help sex and age?
Hey guys, new budgie owner here. I've bought this bird from the breeder directly, he told me this was a young male English budgie, with around 2 months old:

Cere color is correctly represented in the picture. From what I've read, it seems it's a male since the cere is purplish blue, although it seems older than 2 months wouldn't you agree? Also, is his cere normal? It seems a bit crusty. What do you guys think? Thanks for the help.

From what I can see, it looks like you got what the breeder said.
He is currently in the process of moulting out the baring on his head and that is also likely the cause for the cere looking like it does, it is quite normal for the cere to go through faces of peeling.
A very pretty bird too :)

He looks older than 2 mo, but still has barring and dark eye, so I'd say he's just a slow molter....maybe closer to 6 months. The marks on his cere may be related to squabbles with his former "budgie group". Handsome boy :)

Looking closer at the pictures, his irises actually has started developing, so I think Phil might actually be right here ;)
He seems to be older than "only" 2 months..
I do find it a little odd, that the breeder wouldn't know his exact age though :)

Thanks for the help and love, I'll be sure to pass it to him :)

Regarding his age, the breeder may have said that because that's what I asked. I wanted a tamed budgie and figured that I would need to get him very young. Anyway now I don't really care what age he is, he has a new home where he will be loved. Already named him: Rocka :D (it sounds better in my native language, portuguese, the "R" is more pronounced like in the words horror or terror and the "a" more like in the word ska, the music genre).

I'll post better pictures introducing him in the other sub when he's more confortable around.
