Default Our new little Girl??

We got our little Macho Man a friend. But am not confident in my ability to tell gender quite yet. I think shes a female but would like more of a professional opinion and maybe on the age too? I was thinking 3 months or so. They had no idea of sex or hatch date.

Just couldn't resist this sweetie!

yep she looks like a cute little girl It's hard to tell because her head barring is so pale but I think you may be right about her being around the 3 - 4 month mark.

She's adorable! I agree, she looks to be around 3-5 months old based on the head barring

Thank you both for the info. Yes her barring is very light. She's definitely a sweetie for not being handled. More so than my little boy Macho. He was had fed and handled and he wants nothing with me. Love them both already though

Hi! to Talk Budgies

Your little girl is lovely and I would estimate her to be around 12-14 weeks old.

I do hope you followed proper quarantine procedures before introducing her to Macho Man.

Quarantine means housing the new bird in a different cage in a different room than the current bird (as far away from the room the current bird is in as possible) for a period of 35-45 days.

Budgies mask symptoms when they are ill. Symptoms may not show up for over two weeks.
Often you will not even realize your bird is not well. Many budgie illnesses are airborne which is why you need to quarantine your new bird in a completely different room.

It is also a good idea to always take a new budgie in to see an Avian Vet for a "well-birdie" check-up. This allows you to develop a good relationship with the vet and the vet can establish a baseline for your bird in case of any future illnesses or injuries.

Distinction between an Avian Vet and a Vet that "Will See Birds"

As you now have a mixed gender pair, it is very important you do everything possible to discourage breeding.
