Default Is my budgie a boy or a girl?

He/she is appro*imately 2 or 3 months old, there is a slight yellow tint on the face. I got him for 4-5 days now, whiteness around the nostrills weren't there when i got him so i thought he was a male, and i've been told it's a male however now i am unsure do you guys have any opinions? Any help would be appreciated.

First, this is the photo from 5 days ago.

I am really thankful for your reply. I wasn't able to name him since i was not sure about his gender. Even after considering the other photos, not just the first one, can we still say it's a boy?

If the answer is yes, i will come up with a name for my new companion. ^^

OK, now you've made me question myself!

I believe your budgie is male.
The blue on the cere is very dark which leads me to that conclusion, but it does lighten substantially up toward the nares...

I thing we'd better wait until StarlingWings weighs in on your thread.
She's excellent with mutations and genders and I don't want to steer you wrong!

Hi there and to the forums!

Your little one looks to be a boy Despite his being very young, his cere looks like it's starting to turn to the adult blue colour, which is what is a bit confusing as it's quite pale in some lights. However, I do believe he's a boy. Also, he's a sky blue yellowface II normal budgie, and a very handsome one at that! I look forward to hearing what you name him and seeing you both around the forums!

Meanwhile, be sure to read through the forum's many stickies and articles to ensure that you're up to date on the very best of budgie care practices.

If you have any questions after reading through everything, please be sure to ask as we'd love to help!

Cheers!

Dana,

You might want to start an on-going picture thread for your little fellow in the Budgie Pictures section of the forum.

We'd all love to see more of him and will be looking forward to learning his name.

Best wishes!
