Default 6 week old budgie! :D

I have this one little budgie that hatched around 6 weeks ago and about a week back has finally fledged. I've been told that young budgies have melanin in their cere and it will fade away, but as I can see this little fella has started to display a shade of blue. Is this a boy?
He's my first ever baby bird, by the way.

It looks like a boy to me, very cute!
Is that dad in the last photo?
Great to see the little guy eating his greens from the start

Take care - There seems to be a piece of fine metal wiring wrapped around the back perch - This looks very unsafe with its ends sticking up like that. Also be sure to check that any metals in the cage are suitable for birds.

The baby is adorable - have you named him yet and are you keeping him?

I agree with Julia with regard to the metal. Please be careful.

Thanks everyone for the confirmation!

Yeah, I plan on keeping him for a lot of reasons. He and his dad are BFFs right now and they're singing together and grooming each other, so if this isn't a good enough reason to keep him I don't know what is.
Didn't think of a good name for him yet, but I'll find one that fits eventually.

ETA: I'll fix the metal thing in the cage, tho it's been there for a while and I had no problems.

Cute little boy!
But the way we’re determining it isn’t by seeing “blue” that you mentioned. The blue on males of most color mutations, develops when the male becomes mature. This little guy seems to have a lavender cere, which can seem a little bluish.

Pink or lavender indicates young male, while light blue and white with an opaque chalky appearance indicates female.
