Default Kiwi - Male or Female

Hi All,

My friend has had this pretty budgie for the past few years, but was certain it was a boy.

We just want to see if we can have a definitive idea of the sex; thinking about pairing them with my bird, but not looking to have any baby budgies around!

Thanks so much!

The bird in the picture you posted is a female, if it was a male the cere would be blue by now as you stated that your friend has had that bird for a few years, is your bird a male or female?

Thanks so much! Based on my previous post in this discussion line, of my Bunny, I was told shes a girl! The vet says because of her coloration we should wait til shes about a year old to confirm, and maybe do testing!

Your friend's budgie is definitely a female from the pictures posted, as Cody explained.

Testing is not required to determine a budgie's gender. I've reviewed the thread linked below where you asked the gender of your budgie and their is no doubt whatsoever that Bunny is a female.
It's very easy to tell from her cere color.

Bunny Girl or Bunny Boy

Was the vet you visited an Avian Vet?
Many times "regular" vets are not well-versed in how to determine the gender of budgies.
