Hi all. So we have had her about 8 months, she was under 4 months old when we got her as her stripes were on her head. We were told at the pet shop that it was too early to tell for sure but they thought she was a girl and we have always thought that's what she is. However, her cere seems to continously be changing colour. She's our first. If any expert can tell us that would be great. Thank you in advance.

Sorry, trying to use his forum on my phone is not easy. Trying to add pictures

These are clearer

Hi! to Talk Budgies

When you upload pictures as attachments directly from your computer, tablet or phone, the forum automatically defaults to landscape. Additionally, the picture appears as what we term a “thumbnail” attachment.

To upload full-sized pictures with the proper orientation, please use a photo-sharing service such as Imgur and follow the steps in these instructions:
How to Post Full Size Pictures from a Photo Sharing Site
You can practice uploading pictures in the site’s “Test Forum:
Test Forum

By the way, all photos entered in any of our forum contests must be a full-size photo and not a thumbnail attachment so it's good to know how to upload them!

Unfortunately, in the thumbnail pictures you've attached, the color of the cere is very hard to determine.
Could you please try to post full-frontal close-up photos of her cere taken in natural light (no direct sunlight and no flash).

What is your budgie's name?

Please take the time to read through the Site Guidelines, all of the How To Guides, the FAQs, the Budgie Articles and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.

Truly, the very BEST advice anyone can offer you is to take the time to read ALL of the stickies throughout the various Talk Budgie forums as well as the Budgie Articles we have posted.

These are great resources for Talk Budgie members and have a wealth of reliable information which will assist you to learn the best practices in caring for your budgies for their optimal health and well-being.

I’m able to see the pics. Seems you have a boy. Most of the pics, I have to say are far away and blurry though. Deborah has given tips above on posting good pics .

Most often pet shop employees are wrong. Also, you can tell the sex of a young baby if you know what to look for. Angel is beautiful!

I was able to see the photos with the link you provided and you definitely have a darling little boy budgie.

Please be sure you carefully read the site guidelines.

No descriptions or pictures of budgies with other animals or in potentially unsafe conditions are allowed on the forum.

Since you have a dog, it is very important that you ensure your budgie is kept in a room that the dog cannot access.
No matter how friendly you think your dog is, it only takes a second for a severe or fatal injury to a budgie to occur.

Best wishes!

Hi there and to the forums!

You do have a cute little boy, based on the photos above. However, I agree that it would be great to have some clearer photos taken from a closer distance.

I look forward to seeing more of Angel! You've come to a great place to learn even more about the best of budgie care practices. Please be sure to read through the links provided above by FaeryBee to ensure you're up to date on everything. If you have any questions after doing so, please do ask as we'd love to help!

Cheers
