Hi, Apologies for needing further reassurance. I was told male but by gosh,, he acts like a she! Very territorial, squawks a lot and likes to go into the hanging nest and hide! Pieds seems a bit more complicated. He/she is 3 months old so the cere color is what it is and this photo is true to the correct color I see when I look at him.

Behavior is actually not a good indicator of gender, contrary to popular belief In fact, each budgie's behavioral traits are based on their individual personalities and have little to do with gender. The one exception to this is that female budgies in breeding condition may tend towards the moody side, but other than that there is very little consistency among budgie behaviors with regard to gender

Additionally, you should remove any nest or hiding place for your budgie, since those things can cause budgies of any gender to become territorial and broody with the mood to mate. Budgies do not need any sort of "nest" for any reason and leaving it in there can perpetuate aggression or territorial behaviors over time. So you should remove it

I ordered a while ago those nests to use during the winter just so they feel warm. But after reading your post, I will probably not use it as it can change the personality of the couple of budgies that I have. Even more knowing that they know each other for a few days only. Thanks for the advice
