Default How to keep food mess to a minimum

Hi all,

I just wanted to share that I've had wonderful success with Lafeber's Nutri-Berries. They are little balls of hulled seed and pellets with the correct vitamins budgies need. Since they are hulled seeds there is no need to blow off the empty hills and you don't have shells all over the floor! At first I broke up the balls to get my budgies used to the new seed and then slowly stopped until now they have a great time breaking up the balls themselves. I feed them this daily along with a good mix of veggies. If you are sick of picking up a ton of seed shells I would definitely try these. Amazon sells them. I haven't found them in stores for parakeets only the larger ones for parrots so check online first!

My budgies love these, although they will only eat them if I break the balls up otherwise they just chuck them out

I put these in Peetys food bowl and he throws them out Everytime! Lol. I guess I will try breaking them up.

Well so much for that theory. I just broke them up and he has been whipping them out all over the place the little ****. Lol

this actually made me giggle! ... Mine did this too but what I did was crumble them up and mixed into their normal seed... They ended up really liking them in the end - they do like to make a protest from time to time

It took mine awhile to "get it". I think in the end I was so tired of crumbling them up I just went for it whole hog! Once they realize they can break them up they will love them I promise and it's worth it to keep trying since it cuts down on the mess.
