Red face Frozen fruits and veggies?

I was wondering if budgies could have certain fruits and veggies that were previously frozen, and now thawed. The other day I gave Mallorn some thawed kale in a bit of water and she had fun splashing around and eating it. Right now I'm going to try mixing a little bit of shredded thawed pineapple with carrots. Anyone else given their budgies thawed frozen fruits or veggies?

I give my birdies corn and peas that have been frozen then thawed.

Let me know how the pineapple and carrot mixture works out for you!

Wink Pineapple and Carrots for the win

She loved it! I put a small sprinkling of tumeric in with a shredded baby carrot (washed and organic, of course ) and a few pieces of pineapple. She loved it! I had some too, it was very fragrant and fresh

Frozen and thawed or cooked veggies are fine to give. Fresh maybe the best but in the event that you can't find it, frozen is your next best choice. Canned is a big no no for both people and our feathered friends. Because is it hard to find organic corn here I purchase the organic frozen corn and the birds love it. Just make sure that if you cook it, cook it down completely before offering to ensure that their crop is not burned.

Never tried any frozen foods with my birds.....prefer to give them fresh food always but it might not be harmful if others are saying so.

Frozen won't hurt, just remember once it is cooked or frozen it loses 95% of its nutrients. I learned this a long time ago about human diet so I'm just assuming it's the same for animals as well. It won't make them sick or anything but not as healthy as fresh.

I have always heard, that frozen food actually keeps a lot of the nutrients - and at least most of the healthy vitamins and antioxidants. Fresh food that has been transported or stored for days may lose some of their nutrients. It depends on which fruit or vegetable you're dealing with and how it has been dealt with before harvested and/or frozen.

I would prefer fresh, local produce any day, but if not available I believe that you in some cases can benefit from choosing frozen veggies instead of those that have been transported thousand of kilometers by truck
