Default egg food

Hi every one,
I ordered egg food from a distant pet shop but when I received it I realized it was not for budgies but for canaries. When I called the pet shop the man told me that there had been no mistake but that I could use it for my budgie as well. I didn't really trust him because I thought he might be trying to palm it off.
Could someone tell me if canary egg food is ok to use for budgies as well?

I've attached the picture for you to have a look at its ingredients.

Yes, you can use the egg food for the canaries with no trouble at all.
Here in my country the store bought egg food isn't singled out for a specific pet bird. All brands here can be used for budgies, canaries, cockatiels, lovebirds, etc. In fact on the packages there is even more than one species of pet bird depicted.

No worries, your budgie won't turn into a canary, nor will he start to sing like one!

Thanks Aluz,
So I'll give it to him from today. I've been trying to wean my chick but he never took a liking to mixed seeds. He always prefers his formula. Now I'm hoping this egg food will do the trick.
Thanks again for the quick reply.

Yes, you did very well in getting him the egg food as it is a very important supplement for a growing chick.
There are recipes for home made egg food here at this section as well.
There are a few types of seed that you may try offering your budgie, like flax seed, canary seed, niger seed and spray millet. These are all easy for the chicks to dehusk and eat. All of my chicks single out those seeds to practice on and to eat. They almost always go for the niger seed first.

Good luck!

Sammy loves canary seed (alpiste) and flax seed and I will give him a little bit of boiled egg with some veggies and these seeds once a week or so. (Since Sheik is young, you could offer it every day.) I even make his own seed mix with 50% Vitakraft and 50% canary seed (plus Booster probiotics).

Your little Sheik might like homemade egg food as the boiled egg is a very soft food to eat and can be served slightly warm.

Good luck!

Hey Bernard, there are some great easy recipes here on the forum for you to make. The budgies all love the yummy food that is listed and it is all safe for our birds to eat as well as healthy.

Thanks for all the great advice guys.
I gave it to him today but I haven't seen him nibble on it yet.
On the package of the egg food it says 'refresh regularly'. Does that mean everyday, every hour or every week?

Ok how is the weather where you live? If it is hot and humid change it every couple of hours at least. How much are you ?making ?I just use a teaspoon and then mix it with boiled warm water. If it is too hot he won't probably eat it, or too cold as he is used to having formula. Start to slowly thicken his formula and offer it on a spoon, not from a syringe.
