Default Eggs versus egg shells

I've heard of people feeding their budgies crushed up egg shells - have any of you done this? What part of the egg do you feed your bird?

You can feed your budgie all the parts of a hard boiled egg.
Personally, I give mine primarily the yolk with a little bit of the white part and a tiny bit of the egg shell crushed finely into it.
I usually mix the egg with quinoa and flax seed and/or veggies.

Here is a great egg food recipe:

How long can the egg be left at room temperature (i.e. in the cage)?

It depends on how warm the room is. If it's winter and your house is comfortable - not too hot - then you can leave it for 60-90 minutes. If it's summer, I wouldn't leave it for more than 30 minutes.

I am a bit conservative with my fruit and veggie times because my budgie is more sensitive to bacteria, but I've read that a maximum of 30 minutes in hot weather is a good rule of thumb.

I've got no idea how good the source is so it could be totally wrong but I read somewhere a breeder recommending not to give egg shell since his budgies got cut quite severely a few times. They do seem quite sharp so I don't give my budgies any egg shell but then again, I'm really not sure if that really is a problem.
