Default Bird Gravel

I was just wondering if its safe to add Bird Gravel to his seed cup as well. I heard it helps aid in digestion but I know my parakeet won't touch a gravel dish.

Is this safe to do?

Thanks!

If this is a hard grit. Forget it. They do not need it.
If it is shell grit it is ok as this will dissolve in the system.
Only birds with gizzards need grit as they eat whole seed and grain.
Hook beaks do not have a gizzard and can suffer from crop compaction if they ingest hard grits.

Budgies do not need grit/gravel and it can cause impaction in the crop.
