Default The Pizza Attack

We have a new budgie who has been reluctant to try anything except his regular food mix and spinach. Blueberries scared him! He was unimpressed with my attempts to wrap carrot peelings around his cage bars, etc.

Last night my husband sat down on the couch with two slices of pizza on a piece of foil. He'd finished one piece and was putting the second to his mouth when a flash of green flew at his mouth. Apparently pizza has universal appeal.

I wouldn't have set out to feed Sprite pizza, but the good thing is that now he thinks if the people eat it, it must be worth trying. Today he tried cheerios, lettuce and carrot greens

I wanted to share that unexpected step forward.

I would never thought of pizzas for budgies lol...I saw on a tv show, Australian Rainbow Lorikeets eating meat, which was quite bizarre...your little budgie has a varied palate

Some budgies have odd cravings sometimes, I guess.
Once, Mallorn flew at me because I was eating one of these chinese red bean balls:

Maybe she liked the seeds on the outside?
Haha, anyways, at least it's gotten them more likely to try the good stuff!
Yay, little budgies, eat your veggies!

Looks like it--very informative video!
I guess that is how you make them! I wouldn't know since I volunteered at a Chinese New Year festival in February and they gave me some to take home!
Maybe I'll try to make them myself now
If anyone decides to try the recipe, let me know how it turns out!

Ahh, looks like SW is also a Chinese food buff! We actually call them Sesame Balls (Ze Ma Cho), which is made from flour and glutinous paste covered with sesame seeds and fried on the outside. The fillings are usually sweet red bean paste (which is my favorite), or meat and veggies like fried dumplings. The ones with red bean fillings are usually served as pastries or desserts for Dim Sum and you can get them at most Chinese bakeries.

I wouldn't recommend giving these to your birds because they are very oily from being fried and are also high on gluten.

I like the red bean ones, too!

Aaaand that's why Mallorn got unceremoniously shoved (gently, of course) back into her cage and she got to watch me finish it without having had even ONE BITE!
