I had many issues with the seed mixes i had before. I also only have a variety of 3-4 at my local stores. They have more seeds for wild birds than for pet birds The birds did not do well on those seed mixes and leaving most uneaten. I found out the leftovers were all these weird and odd ingredients I decided to do my own seed mix and lucky a nice individual helped me out. There was one bag of just plain millet seed as a single ingredient at the pet store. I chose that as my base. I was able to make a batch of 4 huge bags full of seeds. Each bag is worth about a the same size of the ones in the pet stores. This is going to last VERY LONG. Hopefully the birds like their new mix.
Some other ingredients i included are:
Organic Golden Flax Seeds
Organic Hulled Buckwheat
Organic Black Chia Seeds
Canary Grass seeds
Red Prosso Millet
Golden Finch Millet
Looks very nice, hopefully they will like it!! Great job
Are they on pellets too or just seeds?
Well, the are on pellets as well.I supply it for them, and put it in a separate bowl. But the never touch it. I ordered a new brand called roudybush from thingsforwings. Hopefully they will like this newer brand...
Once they take to your seed mix, it could pay to start adding pellets to their seeds, a sprinkle to start with and then increase as they get used to it? Maybe a more experienced member could comment on that?
