While my new little girl hasn't fully
converted to pellets yet, my fiance and I had a huge breakthrough 6 days ago and I really want to share our experience in case it help others!
We tried mixing with seeds and whole pellets on their own. No luck. So I ground them into powder and tried both ways again. Still didn't work. We tried googling before and never came up with a good method that worked, but I decided to try again.
Then I found a youtube video (this one
) that I hadn't seen before. It seemed genius and I tried it right away. Mix equal parts pellets and seeds, add a little warm water, and then mash into a goopy paste. Serve.
And it worked!
She came down to her dish right away and picked around a bit. I sat close enough to inspect what she was nibbling. "Seed... seed... Oh she got some sticky pellet powder with that seed... Oh she's picking at more pellet goop!!"
I was so happy!
I still feed her that sticky mix, but I went further and tried swapping it out for a dish of the plain crushed pellets yesterday. I screamed with joy (inside my head of course) when I heard her eating them! She seems to be getting more and more used to them, I'm thrilled we've come this far in just two weeks!
Now if only I can get her to eat vegetables...
I really hope this might help someone like it helped us. Give the video a watch. And don't forget to throw away what is uneaten and clean the dish daily! Don't want any nasty bacteria forming.
