Default How I'm getting my baby girl to eat pellets!

While my new little girl hasn't fully converted to pellets yet, my fiance and I had a huge breakthrough 6 days ago and I really want to share our experience in case it help others!

We tried mixing with seeds and whole pellets on their own. No luck. So I ground them into powder and tried both ways again. Still didn't work. We tried googling before and never came up with a good method that worked, but I decided to try again.

Then I found a youtube video (this one) that I hadn't seen before. It seemed genius and I tried it right away. Mix equal parts pellets and seeds, add a little warm water, and then mash into a goopy paste. Serve.

And it worked! She came down to her dish right away and picked around a bit. I sat close enough to inspect what she was nibbling. "Seed... seed... Oh she got some sticky pellet powder with that seed... Oh she's picking at more pellet goop!!" I was so happy!

I still feed her that sticky mix, but I went further and tried swapping it out for a dish of the plain crushed pellets yesterday. I screamed with joy (inside my head of course) when I heard her eating them! She seems to be getting more and more used to them, I'm thrilled we've come this far in just two weeks!

Now if only I can get her to eat vegetables...

I really hope this might help someone like it helped us. Give the video a watch. And don't forget to throw away what is uneaten and clean the dish daily! Don't want any nasty bacteria forming.

That's so awesome! I'm glad you had this breakthrough, your little one will be much happier on her new diet. Veggies are sort of a trial and error--the only advice I have is try to offer as many different types of veggies as you can, in as many different forms as possible! She'll be bound to try some eventually Favorites tend to be shredded carrot, parsley or cilantro hanging from the top of the cage, sweet corn, and romaine lettuce

Good luck!

That is awesome. Congrat's on staying the course, your bird will be much healthier now. You will have success with the veggies too, just keep at it. Thank's for sharing this technique with the forum...
