Default Can a change of seed effect my budgies health?

Hello every one

I brought my two some new seed as the one I brought for them previously I couldn't find any where. I made sure the seed I got had a good review and has a good mix for as much as a balanced diet as I can get (my two do not eat veg at all) However a few days after I gave them this new mix (which I mixed in with their old stuff so they got used to it) my girl's poop became runny then a day after that my boy has as well. I will be taking them to a avian vet asap because I'm not risking it as its not stopped and gone back to normal. I just wondered if the food could have been the cause?

I don't know about health issues, unless the new seed has some quality issues but any dietary change can lead to changes in dropping's. Is it just seed, or does it have pellet's or fruit/veggie pieces in it....is it treated with vitamin's and mineral's or probiotics ?

Maybe the new seed was the reason. But then, there are a lot of reasons why their poop became runny. Temperature and humidity changes, stress or an illness concerning their livers could be the reason. You're doing well taking them to an avian vet, I hope the best for your budgies!
Please update us on their condition, ok?

Quite possibly the changing of the seed has made them stressed and upset, this will make them get runny poop. Also a budgie is a notorious bird for changing their food unfortunately. Some budgies will actually starve themselves to death as the food they have is not recognised as food to them. I hope you have success changing their food don't give up on trying other foods!

My poor little birds I hate to think they might be stressed! I pretty much try to keep my flat at the same temperate as much as I can because I hate too much of a change either way but of course I'm not there in the day so they might be getting a draft I can't control!

Their food did have fruit and veggie pieces in said it had won awards! but for the life of me I cannot remember the brand. Now I'm trying to find a brand that is reliable and a great source of everything they need! There is so many I'm lost!

Dr. Harvey's is a great brand Vitakraft seed is also good.

I think it is the food, you can try mixing their old food and the new food for a little so it lessens the impact on their digestive system I think they'll be okay.

Thanks Star! I just brought some Vitakraft seed for them it looks like a good mix of seed and it has groats in them as well which I was looking for I'm adding some of the seed that's hurt their little bellies and some of the Vitakraft.

I did mix the old and new stuff together before but I don't think I did it soon enough and they got too much of the new stuff too soon.

I just re-read your first post and saw you said you mixed it Oops!

I hope the vet visit goes well and it was just a sensitive tummy in your babies
