Default Need ideas for introducing new fruit and veg

Hello,

So I was wondering what fruit and veg your budgies go nuts over.
Beauregard is quite a fussy eater, the only fruit and veg I have managed to get him to eat are:
- Corn
- Spinach
-Beans
-Capsicum
- Apple
- Banana

I have tried to get him to eat broccoli, carrot and some other fruits, but he will nibble on and not want to continue ( I have persisted for months trying but to no avail, even my usual trick of pretending to eat it does not work)

My main reason for asking is he has gone off eating some of his favourites, so in wanting to keep up his veg/fruit intake desperate for ideas. It is rather hot here at the moment, 30C+ days (we have no AC) so he does eat less when its hot (hoping this is normal).

Thanks in advance

I'd suggest reading through the stickies in the Diet and Nutrition section of the forum as there are many tips for introducing new fruits and vegetables to your budgies there.

You could always try chopping the vegetable(s) up very finely and disguising it in birdie bread or egg food.

Good luck and keep being persistent. It will pay off!

I agree, your perseverance will certainly pay off! Beau is such a good boy to try things, though. Princess Mallorn is pretty picky, but apart from what you mention, she likes fresh parsley, romaine lettuce, and pear. She loves finely chopped raw unsalted almonds as a treat once in a while, too
