Default Interesting commercial treat/mix

I usually make up my own treats and mixes but found this one that is really convenient and not terribly expensive. It's nice if you are like me and have a single budgie, as you can make it up and freeze it in small portions and then serve it.

It's called Higgins Worldly Cuisines Gourmet Bird Food Appetizer "African Sunset with Quinoa". And it's made in the USA

Ingredients: Quinoa, Hulled Millet, Cracked Wheat, Pasta, Flaxseed, Chopped Almond, Cashew Pieces, Dehydrated Cranberries, Papaya Granules, Pineapple Granules, Sweet Potato Dices, Cinnamon Powder, Dried Kelp, Tomato, Spinach, Annatto

Is says to add water to the package and microwave it but I didn't want to kill the nutrition so I put it in a glass bowl and put boiling water on it and let it sit. It smelled and looked nice. Since I only have one budgie I then scooped it into silicone candy molds that are a nice serving size for him. Next I froze them, and when solid I popped them out and put them in a freezer bag. Now they're ready to use any time- just take one out and let it thaw.

Again, I usually make my own little treats, but this one seemed to have nice ingredients and I was just coming back from a 3 month trip so didn't have loads of groceries on hand. It was very convenient Not a good choice for someone with lots of birds as it was $3 (usd) and gave me about 12 servings. Anyway, Just thought I'd share.

It certainly sounds like a good product and looks great!
Does your budgie (what is his name?) like it?

My budgie, Pigwidgeon, loved it. He eats pretty well, especially when I am holding the food/food cup and pretend I like it

Pigwidgeon is such a cute name!!

Truthfully, those treats look good enough that I'd be tempted to taste one myself.

Thanks! We're big Harry Potter fans here. For anyone not familiar with it, Pig (Pigwidgeon) is Ron Weasley's little owl who is very hyper and wants to please... very fitting for my boy LOL

I absolutely love that stuff! Well, i guess moreso my birds do I get the bigger bags and do it over the stove, and they go bonkers over it. I'll have to try freezing up a big batch of it next time.

That looks great! I'll have to look into that as Mallorn would love something like that

I love the name Pigwidgeon, too There's someone around here somewhere with a budgie named Hedwig, incidentally, and I vaguely recall an "Errol", too
