IndigoHorse is on a distinguished road
Question Millet sprouts/greens

I'm growing Winthrop a bird garden next to his cage, made up of his old seed that moths got into. It's mostly millet and canary grass. I was wondering if the whole plant is edible or just the seeds? He hasn't eaten any yet, but I was wondering if I could let him.

Ahhhh....my area at last! The answer is yes to the leaves and the stems, although my lot enjoy the fresh undried seed the most. If it's grown outside you will of course need to wash it thoroughly.

I'm sure he'll love his little "salad" garden!

Just a word of warning, I'm sure you know this but just in case, make sure the soil doesn't have fertilizers or anything, and if you're not sure just cover the soil part with a towel when he's out of the cage so he doesn't fall in. If you just grow it next to his cage and let the leaves grow into the cage, that's good, too!
